Other information about this vehicle, including problems, may not have been reported to CARFAX. Use this report as one important tool, along with a vehicle inspection and test drive, to make a better decision about your next used car.
Accident / Damage Indicator
Various events could indicate an accident or damage in a vehicle's history, such as: salvage auction, fire damage, police-reported accident, crash test vehicle, damage disclosure, collision repair facility and automotive recycler records. See the glossary for more information.
Odometer Check
CARFAX analyzes mileage data to help identify potential:
  • Rollbacks - odometer tampering to conceal a car's true mileage (i.e. Fraud or illegal activity)
  • Rollovers - after reaching the maximum reading, the odometer restarts from zero (i.e. Mechanical or equipment limitation)
  • Inconsistencies - conflicting mileage data means CARFAX cannot determine if it's a potential rollback (i.e. Potential human error)
Basic Warranty
Most manufacturers offer a basic warranty for new vehicles. These warranties vary by manufacturer and typically last for a certain amount of time and/or a set number of miles.
Not Actual Mileage Title
When the seller certifies, under the Federal Odometer Act, that the odometer reading does not reflect the vehicle's actual mileage. This may occur because the odometer was tampered with, broken, or replaced.
Manufacturer Buyback or Lemon Title
A DMV or a state agency marks an official document or issues a Manufacturer Buyback/Lemon title when a vehicle has been repurchased by the manufacturer. Not all states issue manufacturer buyback titles and the specific requirements for a lemon law vehicle varies by state.
Salvage Title
A Salvage Title is issued on a vehicle damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the vehicle exceeds approximately 75% of its pre-damage value. This damage threshold may vary by state. Some states treat Junk titles the same as Salvage but the majority use this title to indicate that a vehicle is not road worthy and cannot be titled again in that state. The following eleven States also use Salvage titles to identify stolen vehicles - AZ, FL, GA, IL, MD, MN, NJ, NM, NY, OK and OR.
Exceeds Mechanical Limits Title
A vehicle with a 5-digit odometer cannot accurately track mileage after 99,999 miles because the odometer rolls over. This title is the result of a seller certifying under the Federal Odometer Act, that the odometer reading EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS of the odometer.
Junk Title
A Junk Title is issued on a vehicle damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the vehicle exceeds approximately 75% of its pre-damage value. This damage threshold may vary by state. The majority of states use this title to indicate that a vehicle is not road worthy and cannot be titled again. Some states treat Junk titles the same as Salvage.

Rebuilt/Reconstructed Title
A Rebuilt/Reconstructed vehicle is a salvage vehicle that has been repaired and restored to operation. These vehicles are often severely damaged before they are rebuilt and refurbished parts are typically used during reconstruction. In most states, an inspection of the vehicle is required before the vehicle is allowed to return to the road.
Structural Damage
All levels of accidents, from minor to severe, can cause structural damage to a vehicle (i.e., damage to the frame or unibody).
Manufacturer Recall
Automobile manufacturers issue recall notices to inform owners of car defects that have come to the manufacturer's attention. Recalls also suggest improvements that can be made to improve the safety of a particular vehicle. Most manufacturer recalls can be repaired at no cost to you.

These vehicles are often severely damaged before they are rebuilt and refurbished parts are typically used during reconstruction. In most states, an inspection of the vehicle is required before the vehicle is allowed to return to the road.
Hail Damage Title
The vehicle sustained major damage due to hail. In most states, hail damage titles are issued when the cost of repairing the vehicle for safe operation exceeds its fair market value.
Flood Damage Title
States issue flood titles when a vehicle has been in a flood or has received extensive water damage.
Loss Due To Fire Title
The vehicle sustained major damage due to fire. In most states, fire damage titles are issued when the cost of repairing the vehicle for safe operation exceeds its fair market value.
Airbag Deployment
Occurs when the driver, passenger or side airbag has been used or deployed during a crash or other incident. If an airbag has been deployed, it must be replaced by a qualified technician. Have this car inspected by a mechanic prior to purchase.

Total Loss
An insurance or fleet company declares a vehicle a total loss when a claim exceeds approximately 75% of its pre-damage value or if the vehicle is stolen and not recovered. This damage threshold varies by company. These companies typically take possession and obtain the title. Not all total loss vehicles result in a DMV-reported branded title, like a Salvage or Junk title. See the glossary for more information.

NHTSA #16V698
Recall #16C13 BODY CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING
Status: Remedy Available

Locate an authorized Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer or call 866-436-7332 to obtain more information

Description: ON AFFECTED MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES, THE REAR HATCHBACK (BACK DOOR) CAN BE UNLOCKED AND UNLATCHED WITH A SINGLE PRESS OF THE INTERIOR LATCH RELEASE CONTROL BUTTON WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED IS LESS THAN 7 KPH (4 MPH). THE INTERIOR LATCH RELEASE CONTROL BUTTON IS LOCATED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN. FMVSS 206, SECTION 4.3.2 REQUIRES TWO SEPARATE ACTIONS TO UNLOCK THE DOOR AND OPERATE THE INTERIOR LATCH RELEASE CONTROL MECHANISM. FORD IS NOT AWARE OF ANY REPORTS OF ACCIDENT OR INJURY RELATED TO THIS CONDITION.

IF A DRIVER ACTUATES THE INTERIOR LATCH RELEASE CONTROL BUTTON WITH A SINGLE PUSH AND THE VEHICLE SPEED IS LESS THAN 7 KPH (4 MPH), THE BACK DOOR WILL UNLOCK AND UNLATCH, POTENTIALLY INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY FOR UNRESTRAINED OCCUPANTS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING.

Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL AND INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD OR LINCOLN DEALER TO HAVE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMED WITH UPDATED SOFTWARE USING STANDARD WORKSHOP MANUAL PROCEDURES. THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE. FORD IS EXCLUDING REIMBURSEMENT FOR COSTS BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY PROGRAM WOULD PROVIDE FOR A FREE REPAIR FOR THIS CONCERN. FORD WILL FORWARD A COPY OF THE NOTIFICATION LETTERS TO DEALERS TO THE AGENCY WHEN AVAILABLE.

NHTSA #18V735
Recall #18S32 FUEL TANK DEFORMATION
Status: Remedy Not Yet Available

Locate an authorized Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer or call 866-436-7332 to obtain more information

Description: ON YOUR VEHICLE, THE ENGINE MAY STALL DUE TO A STUCK CANISTER PURGE VALVE (CPV) WITHIN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM. A STUCK CPV CAN LEAD TO EXCESSIVE VACUUM IN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM, CAUSING THE PLASTIC FUEL TANK TO DEFORM, RESULTING IN AN INACCURATE OR ERRATIC FUEL GAUGE INDICATION, INACCURATE DISTANCE TO EMPTY (DTE), AND/OR OTHER DRIVABILITY CONCERNS. THE VEHICLE MAY ALSO EXHIBIT AN ILLUMINATED MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL).

AN ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING OR WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO RESTART, CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL AND INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD OR LINCOLN DEALER TO HAVE THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) REPROGRAMMED WITH NEW SOFTWARE THAT WILL DETECT A MALFUNCTIONING CPV AND PREVENT A POTENTIAL EXCESSIVE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM VACUUM CONDITION FROM OCCURRING. DEALERS WILL CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) AND REPLACE THE CPV AS NECESSARY. IF THE CPV IS REPLACED, DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE CARBON CANISTER, FUEL TANK AND FUEL DELIVERY MODULE AS NECESSARY. THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE. UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS SERVICED FOR THIS CONCERN CUSTOMERS ARE ADVISED TO MAINTAIN AT LEAST 1/2 TANK OF FUEL. FORD PROVIDED THE GENERAL REIMBURSEMENT PLAN FOR THE COST OF REMEDIES PAID FOR BY VEHICLE OWNERS PRIOR TO NOTIFICATION OF A SAFETY RECALL IN FEBRUARY 2017. THE ENDING DATE FOR REIMBURSEMENT ELIGIBILITY IS DECEMBER 31, 2019. FORD WILL FORWARD A COPY OF THE NOTIFICATION LETTERS TO DEALERS TO THE AGENCY WHEN AVAILABLE.

Accident Indicator
CARFAX receives information about accidents in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Canada.

Not every accident is reported to CARFAX. As details about the accident become available, those additional details are added to the CARFAX Vehicle History Report. CARFAX recommends that you have this vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic.
  • According to the National Safety Council, Injury Facts, 2015 edition, 8% of the 254 million registered vehicles in the U.S. were involved in an accident in 2013. Over 74% of these were considered minor or moderate.
  • This CARFAX Vehicle History Report is based only on information supplied to CARFAX and available as of 4/18/19 at 10:27:29 PM (CDT). Other information about this vehicle, including problems, may not have been reported to CARFAX. Use this report as one important tool, along with a vehicle inspection and test drive, to make a better decision about your next used car.

First Owner
When the first owner(s) obtains a title from a Department of Motor Vehicles as proof of ownership.
Ford or Lincoln Mercury Recall
The Ford Motor Company provides Carfax with Field Service Action and recall information regarding safety, compliance and emissions programs announced since 2000 for a specific vehicle. For complete information regarding programs or concerns about this vehicle, please contact a local Ford or Lincoln Mercury Dealer.
New Owner Reported
When a vehicle is sold to a new owner, the Title must be transferred to the new owner(s) at a Department of Motor Vehicles.
Ownership History
CARFAX defines an owner as an individual or business that possesses and uses a vehicle. Not all title transactions represent changes in ownership. To provide estimated number of owners, CARFAX proprietary technology analyzes all the events in a vehicle history. Estimated ownership is available for vehicles manufactured after 1991 and titled solely in the US including Puerto Rico. Dealers sometimes opt to take ownership of a vehicle and are required to in the following states: Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and South Dakota. Please consider this as you review a vehicle's estimated ownership history.
Title Issued
A state issues a title to provide a vehicle owner with proof of ownership. Each title has a unique number. Each title or registration record on a CARFAX report does not necessarily indicate a change in ownership. In Canada, a registration and bill of sale are used as proof of ownership.
